Reflection:
The freshman convocation is an annual event that serves as
an opportunity for CSUDH freshman class students to attend a graduation
designed event. Through this event, students are able to see themselves in the
exact location they will graduating in a few years. Attending the freshman
convocation gives students an opportunity to learn more about how CSUDH can
help them graduate and transform their life. Essentially, the event stressed
the importance of seeking guidance in college, and finding ways to immerse
themselves in the campus community and culture. This was such an amazing event,
because it really showcased the visual of the journey each student was
embarking on in terms of their personal, professional, and academic growth. For
me personally, I wish this event was offered when I was in undergrad. I know
for me personally, it would have been exciting to see where I would graduate in
just a few years. It would have served a marker for me. I think for a lot of my
peers that didn’t make it through college could have taken advantage of an
experience like that. Also having the opportunity to just connect with campus
resources and student services that could better uplift their experience in the
college environment.
